The Little Patuxent Review’s first “Author Next Door” event November 12 drew a big crowd to the Hawthorn Center in Hickory Ridge. Seventy-one attendees had registered on EventBrite and they were joined by a few more walk-ins. Two Howard County Poet Laureates, Truth Thomas and Penelope Tofigh, as well as novelist and LPR board member Alex Duvan, answered questions from the audience on what it’s like to be a serious writer. As one writer in the crowd said afterward, “They answered all my nightmare questions.” The evening was such a success that we may schedule more of these events.
