A Remembrance, a Celebration and a Launch: Little Patuxent Review’s 2025 Winter Edition

Join Little Patuxent Review and the Howard County Poetry and Literature Society (HoCoPoLitSo) in celebrating our Winter 2025 Launch and the Society’s 50th anniversary!

We are excited to have HocoPoLitSo celebrate their 50th anniversary with us and our readership. Their celebration has been named “Beyond Words, Beyond Borders” which feels like the perfect term for the way they have integrated literature, creativity, and the expansion of language throughout the Howard County community since the initial launch in 1974.

“For the past 50 years, HoCoPoLitSo has distinguished itself with world-class literary programs. We are calling our anniversary year ‘Beyond Words, Beyond Borders’ in recognition of our desire to expand understanding and response to universal truths as expressed in the literature of extraordinary writers and thinkers,” says HoCoPoLitSo co-chair and LPR contributing editor Tim Singleton from the press release on the subject of their 50th anniversary written by Jean Moon, “Beyond Words, Beyond Borders: HoCoPoLitSo Celebrates its 50th Anniversary.”

From the time of its launch, The society has worked with and hosted Nobel, Pulitzer and National Book Award prize winners to share their work and knowledge with the community and high school students. Because of their importance in the community it comes as no surprise that they are continuing to host writers, workshops and more within their “golden year.” LPR is excited to be one of many organizations to combine the talents and expertise of HoCoPoLitSo and our new winter edition writers.

Our winter launch comes at not only a time of celebration for artists and writers, but a time of remembrance. We hope you’ll take some time to read “Mike Clark: A Remembrance” written by Tim Singleton in the early pages of the new edition. Mike was a big part of the Howard County community as the mind behind re-launching LPR out of its hiatus and starting a salon series to highlight writers and the art of language. Mike’s glimmer and excitement for writers continues in the launch, and in the new winter edition and every one after.

On January 26th, 2025 we hope you’ll join us from 3-5 at the Carriage House at Kittamaqundi Community Church. Please find the address below. An eventbrite will be on its way!
